"I suppose the reason [God] likes me is because I'm crazy. Don't me wrong I was always a pretty level headed guy but I always different, was a big reason as to why we got on. Y'see even an omnipotent being can get lonely, and unlike all the other angels whenever he talked I would actually listen. So when he made the downside to the afterlife he put me in charge because he knew I was the only one who'd be crazy enough to take the job. In the end I suppose I was his friend, funny how it all worked out"

Harry is the original devil, in name and not species. In the Dark Judge the devil is originally a job title as Harry is an angel much like Death (Real name Mort) and Gabriel.
